FIRE UPDATE: Durban South fire source confirmed

There were no injuries

A Chamberlain Road factory caught fire at about 5am this morning (Wednesday, 29 August), sending huge plumes of smoke across South Durban.

According to Durban Central fire division commander Mervin Govender, rubber material in the clothing factory caught alight. “There were no injuries as there was nobody in the factory at the time. The fire is still under investigation to determine the cause,” said Commander Govender.

Four rescue pumpers and two water carriers were used to extinguish the factory fire.
