Late Toti artist’s last wish realised

The SPCA was always close to Beulah’s heart, so we are trying to honour her.

Amanzimtoti SPCA was the grateful recipient of a percentage of the proceeds from a posthumus art sale.

The Upper South Coast Art Association (USCAA) was gifted with almost 100 works of the late Toti artist Beulah van Rooyen, which were showcased at the Art on Kingsway gallery in July.

“Her daughter, who lives in London, kindly donated all of her paintings to the gallery, on condition that 30% of the proceeds be donated to Amanzimtoti SPCA,” said USCAA president, Jean Taylor. “The SPCA was always close to Beulah’s heart, so we are trying to honour her.”

Almost R3,000 was handed over to the SPCA’s Michelle Hannan at the gallery on Tuesday, 14 August from the sale of Beulah’s artworks there and at the art club’s monthly meetings.

“We have received amazing support from the Toti public over the years,” said Michelle. “It is awesome that this talented artist remembered the animals as her dying wish and this shows what an animal lover she was. We send our condolences to her family and friends.

A lot of support the SPCA receives is through donations like this. We appreciate this, as it helps us to run our organisation to the best of our abilities.” To donate to Amanzimtoti SPCA, call 031-904-2424/5 or email info@spcatoti.co.za.
