AWI set to vote for woman of the year

AMANZIMTOTI Women’s Institute’s July meeting opened with the singing of the FWI song and the reading of the prayer, the Mary Stewart Collect.

Part of the Collect reads:

“Grant that we may realise that it is the little things that create differences, that in the big things of life we are one. And may we strive to touch and know the great human heart common to us all.”

AWI president Yvonne Dixie welcomed all, especially Belinda Thole who, being a teacher, was only able to attend the July meeting. Kay Wagner is on the mend, however Norma Veldtman is in a lot of pain and she is wished a speedy recovery.

Three nominations were put forward for the Amanzimtoti Woman of the Year to be voted for in August. There was a bumper collection of long-life milk for the Elders Voice. The collection next month is ‘over the counter’ chemist items such as Vaseline, lipice and so on.

After tea and delicious snacks, two women demonstrated their skills. Gwen held a mini workshop on quilling and Penny showed a variation of decoupage. Both were well supported. Thanks were extended to them.
