Housebreaking duo netted after Entombeni Road burglary

He said at least one of the men, who was wanted for multiple burglaries, appeared to be a whoonga addict.

Strong team work by an armed response officer working closely with the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) and the police led to the arrest of a wanted housebreaking suspect and his accomplice when the team swooped on their homes on Thursday morning, 2 August.

Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios said the company’s top performer, Mbuyiselo ‘Triple M’ Mdunjane had swooped on the criminals together with the CCPO and Amanzimtoti detectives after a housebreaking in Entombeni Road on Wednesday night.

He said at least one of the men, who was wanted for multiple burglaries, appeared to be a whoonga addict.

“We received a tip-off regarding a housebreaking suspect just as our officer was about to embark on a joint operation with the CCPO and police around the beach areas in Amanzimtoti. The team decided to immediately follow up on the information, which took them to a house in Ezimangweni where they swooped on the first suspect, who was still asleep, surrounded by stolen goods,” said Mathios.

“The team recovered bags of stolen items, including a laptop, an X-Box, cable extensions and a child’s school bag which had been taken during the Entombeni Road housebreaking.”

Mathios said further information led the officers to another home, where a man wanted for many months in connection with multiple housebreaking incidents, was arrested. “There the team recovered more stolen goods such as tablets, jewellery and a bag. They also located a stolen flat-screen television that the suspect had handed to a community member. The television was handed over to the police, along with the rest of the recovered stolen goods.”

The men were arrested and face charges of housebreaking.
