Inflatable challenge delivers on promise of fun and funds

Together with the support of the community through team entries and the corporate sponsorships, a total of R36,437 was raised for Malvern Child and Youth Care Centre.

RAIN could not dampen the excitement of the Warrior Inflatable Challenge fundraiser held on Saturday, 14 July at Hutchison Park in Amanzimtoti.

Together with the support of the community through team entries and the corporate sponsorships, a total of R36,437 was raised for Malvern Child and Youth Care Centre.

Teams of all ages arrived to take on the challenge – either for the fastest lap time or for the pure fun and enjoyment of the inflatable course.

“We have 120 children in our care and to run a children’s home of our size is costly,” said PR and fundraising manager for the Malvern-based facility Lee Jarrett.

“The money raised will go towards paying the water and electricity account of around R80,000 per month. We thank everyone who braved the cold and the rain to support us. Special thanks to the event organiser, Zelda Crous and her team of volunteers and sponsors who worked tirelessly on the day to ensure that everyone had a good time.”

Father and son team, Sean and Martin Greyling are congratulated by event organiser Zelda Crous at the end of their challenge.

The Malvern Child and Youth Care Centre cares for 120 orphaned and vulnerable children between the ages of two and 18 years.

Through its development programmes, the children’s home is committed to helping each child reach their full potential by providing a safe and loving environment, three meals a day and access to education, therapeutic and spiritual support.
