Organisations partner to create positive change

The day was spent cleaning the centre and picking up litter and painting the community hall.

The Adams Mission Community SOS Centre (AMCSC) joined hands with the Adams library and Inqaba Yokulinda Youth Organisation on Mandela Day to clean the centre and surrounds.

They were helped by community members, schools, ward 67 councillor, Makhosi Mbele, and municipal departments, DSW, parks and recreation, and culture.

The centre is based in Adams Mission with a primary objective of facilitating talent development, social welfare, awareness and educational projects to benefit the youth and community at large.

“We spent the day cleaning the centre and picking up litter, bush cutting and painting the community hall, ending with a short programme to commemorate Mandela Day with performances by Josephine Makhanya School pupils, Khulekani Da Poet and various speakers on stage to educate about their services and environmental care under the theme ‘Your Centre, My Centre, Our Centre. It Begins With You’,” said AMCSC chairman, NC Maphumulo.

“We believe and hope that everyone who was there was not only working but was empowered to be the change they want to see tomorrow. Like Tata once said: “It in your hands to create a better world for all who live in it”.
