Burning tyre N2 blockade gridlocks N2 Amanzimtoti traffic

The fire department arrived to extinguish the burning tyres at the bottom of Twini Hill earlier and cleared the way for motorists.

ALLEGED protest action which resulted in the N2 northbound during this morning’s rush hour traffic has now been cleared.

The protest, which saw burning tyres placed across the northbound carriageway, caused a backup of traffic between Amanzimtoti and Prospecton, near Joyner Road this morning, Tuesday, 24 July.

Motorists heading to Amanzimtoti were delayed as a result of the blockage and ensuing congestion.

The fire department arrived to extinguish the burning tyres at the bottom of Twini Hill earlier and cleared the way for motorists.

It is unclear who placed the burning tyres on the road or what they were protesting.
