Motorists were stuck in traffic on the N2 south on Monday morning, 23 July after the Delangokubona Business Forum strew rubbish on the highway. According to the forum, DSW has not paid its subcontractors for three months, which caused the protest.

“Members of the public are informed of a disruption in the refuse collection service in some parts of the southern areas, including KwaMakhutha, Umlazi, Folweni, Cato Manor, Mayville, Bonella, Chesterville, Cato Crest and surroundings,” said eThekwini Municipality’s Deputy Head of Communications, Mandla Nsele.
Discussions between the employees, Cleansing and Solid Waste management, and contractors are currently underway.
