GRAPHIC IMAGE: Man shoots dog for barking at monkeys

The dog was barking at monkeys that were on the roof when the neighbour fired a shot.

Isipingo Hills residents have been left outraged after a man shot his neighbour’s dog in the eye for barking at monkeys on Wednesday, 18 July.

Alpha Alarms communications officer, Krishnee Naidoo said their response unit was called out to the scene by a non-client and upon arrival found that the little dog was left seriously injured after it was shot in the eye by an occupant from a neighbouring premises.

β€œIt was reported by the complainant that the dog had been barking at monkeys who were on the roof when there was suddenly what sounded like a gunshot that came from the neighbouring property. The dog was then found to be injured,” she said.

The SPCA and police arrived on scene to investigate and the injured pet was transported from the property by the SPCA.

An Alpha Response member attempted to communicate with the neighbour who is alleged to have caused injury to the dog but there was no response. Police also attempted to draw the individual out of the house, to no avail.

Police indicated that they would be following up on the matter. It is unknown what type of gun was used in the incident.
