Support the Domino Foundation this Mandela Day

The buckets will be distributed to families in crisis through churches, schools, creches and community centres.

Excitement is mounting at the Domino Foundation as the countdown for this year’s Mandela Day celebration has begun.

“The message behind Mandela Day is simple – everyone has the ability and the responsibility to change the world for the better. This year we invite all corporates, schools and individuals to rally behind the Mandela Day call and join the #DominoEffect of transforming lives,” said CEO, Shaun Tait.

“As we celebrate the 100th year of Madiba’s birth, we understand that not everyone can take time out of their work day to be with us for Mandela Day and so we have created an exciting challenge for corporates or schools to celebrate Mandela Day at their offices.”

The Domino Foundation’s Legacy Challenge invites individuals to run collection drives throughout each department or class, gathering items from wish lists to be sorted and packed into buckets on Mandela Day, Wednesday 18 July.

How it works:

  • Purchase a legacy starter pack for R1,000, which includes an instruction card, 10 buckets and other required items to complete the challenge.
  • Send off the internal communication email to your team or parents, or even their office parks to encourage the collection drive.
  • Set a time on Mandela Day for your teams to pack their legacy kits at your office, school or office park.
  • Complete the activity to select your top five candidates, as per your instruction card, and arrange delivery to the foundation before 2pm.

Sign up by ordering your starter pack from Cheryl via email at feedingtoti@domino.org.za or call 031-903-1725. You will be sent a confirmation letter with further instructions and necessary details. Get your team together, gather items from the list in your pack and set up an area at your office or school as a drop-off point.

Drop off your packed legacy kits with the foundation at Seadoone Mall or its office in Queens Terrace on Wednesday, 18 July for this year’s International Mandela Day.

Alternatively, donate R100 to get a bucket with a list of goodies to fill the bucket with, inside. Once filled, drop off your bucket, which will be distributed to families in crisis through churches, schools, creches and community centres.
