Centre security manager Bevan van Vuuren and his security team were monitoring two suspicious men who were walking through the shopping centre.

After a while, they entered the garbage bin area of the centre. As it is private property, the security teams moved in on the duo, who were seen trying to hide something in a packet. On searching the men,  a knife was found on one and he became aggressive. He was handcuffed for safety reasons. When the security team searched the men’s bag, they discovered a large sum of money and 50-plus capsules of whoonga.

The handcuffed man jumped up and escaped into the railway line bushes. The other man was handed over to Amanzimtoti SAPS with the confiscated weapon,  money and drugs. Special thanks go out to Toti SAPS crime prevention and an ET Rapid Response ops manager.
