Isipingo library hosts workshop on leasing issues

The seminar mainly focused on addressing landlord and tenant issues and obligations.

Isipingo civic library hosted a legal awareness programme on Thursday, 21 June which was organised together with libraries in district six.

ProBono, a non-government organisation which promotes access to legal services for those who cannot afford to pay for it, led the seminar. They gave a legal perspective in the form of a presentation.

“The seminar mainly focused on addressing landlord and tenant issues and obligations,” said librarian, Nothando Ntuli. “The community of Isipingo and surrounding areas were given an opportunity to address some of the problems they have encountered on the subject. The seminar was informative as the discussion covered the importance of lease agreements, written and verbal agreements, property maintenance and privacy, to name a few.”
