Multi-vehicle crash causes traffic congestion on Twini Hill

Fortunately there were no serious injuries.

A multi-vehicle crash on Twini Hill on Tuesday afternoon, 26 June at about 2pm caused a major traffic blockage.

When Voluntary Emergency Medical Assistance (VEMA) paramedics responded to the call, they found one light motor vehicle had overturned, one truck was in the slow lane and another vehicle, which was severely damaged, was found in the emergency lane.

“Witnesses reported a vehicle had veered from the southbound motorway, across the median, and struck the two vehicles, before coming to rest,” said a VEMA paramedic who did not wish to be named. “Fortunately there were no serious injuries and the driver of the severely damaged vehicle escaped uninjured.”

Traffic was severely affected for sometime on the N2 north between Athlone Park and Moss Kolnick, as well as the back roads, while emergency services worked on scene. VEMA thanks the Amanzimtoti Fire crews, Metro Police, SAPS and the multiple ambulances that attended the incident. SAPS was on scene to investigate the cause of the crash.
