Wednesday word: Do you know a doryphore?
This one goes out to all the online trolls of the world.
SEARCHING for an appropriate word to describe someone who continuously points out your faults?
Well then, this week’s #SLSWednesdayWord is for you. A doryphore is someone who “derives satisfaction from pointing out the errors of others”, according to Sir Harold Nicolson.

worldwidewords.org (https://www.worldwidewords.org/weirdwords/ww-dor1.htm) describes how the word originated at Sir Nicolson’s hands in the August 1952 edition of the Spectator magazine and describes later uses of the word. “In 1996, Herb Caen commented in the San Francisco Chronicle: ‘For a doryphore, what is more delightful than a mistake in a correction?’”
With internet trolls becoming the norm in society, I am sure you know more than a couple doryphores.
