Round Table golf day swings club move into high gear

The golf day was a raging success, with plenty of support from the community.

Blue skies, a fresh coastal sea breeze and several familiar faces from the community joined Amanzimtoti Round Tablers (RT) for a round of golf at the picturesque Umdoni Park Golf Club on Sunday, 20 May.

“It was truly a memorable day followed with fellowship and camaraderie shared,” said Amanzimtoti RT president, Robby Ducasse. “The funds raised at our annual golf day went towards the aims and objectives for RT. Toti 85 RT was faced with an unfortunate strike of events whereby we had to move our premises from the breweries due to expansion taking place at their premises.

We approached Amanzimtoti Sports Centre to ask if they had a space for us. Fortunately they could give us a space but it needed to be constructed and levelled to be able to fit our clubhouse.”

The costs involved were a steep R40,000 which Amanzimtoti RT had to pay out of its bank account to be able to make the move possible. “We approached the South Coast area from Amanzimtoti to Umdoni for support via social media and by putting up posters at malls, schools, shops and golf courses.

Fortunately the golf day was a raging success, with plenty of support from the community. We managed to raise over R18,000 which we have paid towards our clubhouse,” said Robby.

Amanzimtoti RT thanks everyone who contributed and a special thank you to all the sponsors for sponsoring holes and prizes, such as Momentum, Liberty Life, Dafco, Hit the Spot, Eden Rock Forest Estate, PPC Cement, Fidelity, Build-It Umlazi, Eurolux, Eveready Brick and Block, JoJo tanks, Build-It DC sales, Property 24 and Lumenrock. “Thank you to Koos Nel, our area chairman, and Terence Hartwanger, our area vice-chairman for supporting us on the day. It was an honour to have you guys on one of our projects.”
