The Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) warns home owners to protect their properties against entry by criminals through windows and house roofs.
“We are still seeing housebreakings where windows are smashed in the early hours of the morning, and more than a few housebreakings where entry is being gained through the roof,” said CCPO committee member, George Snodey.
“If you have an alarm, you need to ensure that a passive is placed in your ceiling, which will activate as these criminals come through your roof, and give your service provider time to get to the property and hopefully stop them from getting into your house.”
Snodey said outside beams, although quite expensive, can also be effective and will activate before the criminals reach your house, climb onto your roof and gain entry through your ceiling. “If you can afford it, take these measures, as they will save you in the long run,” said Snodey.
