Woman’s handbag recovered after Doonside robbery

CCPO and Blue Security patrol officers, Mbuyiselo ‘Triple M’ Mdunjane and Mbambo Nhlanhla recover woman's stolen handbag.

A relieved woman had her stolen handbag returned to her by Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) response officers after she was robbed on the Doonside footbridge on Thursday, 26 April.

CCPO committee member, George Snodey said after they received the call at about 8am, CCPO and Blue Security patrol officers, Mbuyiselo ‘Triple M’ Mdunjane and Mbambo Nhlanhla were on the scene in under a minute.

“They located the suspect, who fled after dropping the stolen property, which they recovered, and handed it back to a very grateful woman,” said Snodey.

Later the same day, at about noon, the CCPO received a call regarding the theft of a geyser from a Cato Crescent premises. “After getting a description, CCPO response officer, Michael Mkhize went in search of two men. He found them in Somerset Way and apprehended one suspect, with the second escaping,” said Snodey. The thief was handed to Toti SAPS who were also on the scene.
