City to take Durban’s draft budget hearings to people

The regional consultations will take place at eight different venues during the next few weeks

Regional hearings to present the city of Durban’s draft budget will kick off shortly, with Mayor Zandile Gumede taking the city’s R45.8-bn draft budget for the 2018/19 financial year to the people of eThekwini from Thursday, 19 April.

The draft budget was tabled by the full council on 28 March.

Presented under the theme ‘Radically transforming communities’, the budget roadshow seeks to present the proposed budget, receive input from communities and to profile and highlight service delivery successes achieved. Officials from various service delivery units will be present to assist with questions which residents may want to raise.

The regional consultations will take place at eight different venues during the next few weeks, with 3 May as the proposed date for the Outer South region hearing. It will take place at the Umnini grounds with the start scheduled for 10am.
