Toti commodore injured after tractor capsizes at fishing competition

Commodore Glen Jansen (58) was retrieving a boat from the sea when the roof of the tractor collapsed and fell on him.

An Amanzimtoti commodore sustained minor injuries when a 4×4 tractor capsized during a fishing competition at Warnadoone Ski-Boat Club on Saturday afternoon, 14 April.

Commodore Glen Jansen (58) was retrieving a boat from the sea at about 4pm when the roof of the tractor collapsed and fell on him. When he jumped off, vice-commodore Anton van den Berg (46) ran to hit the kill switch.

“When I saw it heading for a boat and vehicle, I backed off,” said Anton. The tractor drove onto the bonnet of a Toyota Landcruiser towing a boat and tipped over.

Glen suffered a bump on the head and a scrap to his leg. As a precaution, paramedics were called. He was transferred to Entombeni Hospital but was back at home in the evening. Anton suffered an injury to his leg.
