KwaMakhutha carer’s decade of service lauded by Tafta

The mother of two boys said she’s always been drawn to helping the elderly

A KWAMAKHUTHA woman was among those honoured for their long service to The Association for the Aged (Tafta) at Durban Country Club on Friday, 6 April.

The ceremony, which coincided with an annual staff update event, celebrated the many years of loyalty, commitment and service of two employees: Renee Chislett and Nompilo Mhkize.

Tafta CEO Femada Shamam used the opportunity to praise the dedication of both employees who were recipients of 30 years and 10 years of long service respectively.

“Commemorating these memorable achievements in the association’s 60th year of existence is a poignant event in Tafta’s history. With a total of 40 years of combined service, Tafta is proud and thankful to celebrate this achievement with our staff. It is said that there is no better work than work in service to others, and we hope you are rewarded for your dedication to Tafta for many lifetimes to come.”

Nompilo Mkhize, who hails from KwaMakhutha, is a trained carer at Tafta’s John Conradie House frail care unit. She celebrated 10 years of long service. The mother of two boys aged eight and three said she’s always been drawn to helping the elderly. “It has been a privilege for me to serve the elders at Tafta. In the last decade I have been exposed to so much and I am so grateful to Tafta for providing me with this opportunity.”
