Welfare mentors youth in skills to enter job market

The programme was made possible through funding by AECI

KINGSBURGH Child and Family Welfare hosted a youth mentorship programme on Thursday, 5 April
The programme was made possible through funding by AECI and the initiative aimed at providing young people with skills and information to enter the job market.

Aspects covered in the mentorship include writing skills for preparing job applications and CVs, work readiness, work habits including personal and social presentation, being employable, lifelong learning, life purpose and plan.

An inspiring and empowering morning was experienced by the youth. “Welfare is positive this programme has increased self-esteem and provided the youth with hope that they can improve their quality of life,” said Kingsburgh Child Welfare social worker, Sandra Govender. “We have inspired change by encouraging youth to believe in themselves and know their worth.”
