Winklespruit train crash victim ‘thankful for second chance’

The woman sustained multiple injuries to her neck, back and right leg when she was clipped by a passing train, after which she was rushed to hospital.

THE woman who was struck by a train in Winklespruit on Wednesday, 14 February, has contacted the Sun to assure she has recovered, but wishes to remain anonymous.

The woman sustained multiple injuries to her neck, back and right leg when she was clipped by a passing train, after which she was rushed to hospital.

“I’m doing much better now,” she said. “For those who judged me, you don’t know what I have been through and my reasons for walking on the railway.”

She went on to thank the Sun for its coverage.

“Of all the articles about my accident, the Sun’s was the only one which conveyed all the facts correctly. It was clear the journalist consulted the paramedics before publishing, and for this I am grateful. The paramedics, nurses and doctors were excellent, as was the service from the hospital. I’m thankful for everything, I thank God every day for giving me a second chance.”
