[VIDEO] Amanzimtoti SPCA’s latest rescue: You’ve goat to be kidding?

Little Ragna was at the brink of death at just three-days-old

While Easter may be a time associated more with bunnies and eggs, it’s a baby goat which has stolen hearts and brought smiles to staff and visitors at Amanzimtoti SPCA.

In the biggest indication yet that the local animal welfare organisation deals with more than just dogs and cats, the goat’s arrival has sparked a fury of comments and likes on the SPCA’s social media pages since its arrival on Tuesday, 20 March.
Little Ragna, as he’s been named since being rescued during a livestock yard inspection in Umbumbulu, was at the brink of death at just three-days-old. His mother had died and he was not being fed.
The SPCA is now rehabilitating him, and despite several adoption offers and calls  for him to become their official mascot, the SPCA has assured the animal-loving public that on receiving a clean bill of health, he will be reintroduced into a safe, more goat-appropriate environment.
But for now, the cooing and comforting efforts of the SPCA staff are seeing him on the road to recovery.
“Trainee inspector Luke had to rush him to the vet first night he was with us because he wasn’t doing well. Staff member Jolene feeds him throughout the day and inspector Dawn takes him home every night for feeding. He is also being treated with antibiotics. The vet is very happy with his progress,” said a spokesman.
“Little Ragna is definitely the cutest little thing you’ll see today,” she said. “The SPCA does so much more than you know, and helps so many animals. But they can’t do any of it without funds.
If you would like to assist them in doing what they do best, any donation would  be appreciated, and go towards assisting the many equally cute and cuddly charges in our care.”
