JUST IN: Woman’s body found in shallow grave in Mid-Illovo

Police are searching for the relatives

Mid-Illovo police are searching for the relatives of a woman’s body which was found in a shallow grave at Tyrone farm in Mid Illovo.

On 20 March at 7am, a farmer was working in his farm when he spotted freshly dug soil covered with tree branches. When he went to investigate, he saw a hand and a foot protruding from the soil.

Search and rescue team members recovered the body of a woman in her 30s. She had head injuries, with a deep gash on the forehead. She was wearing a pink top and black tights. A hammer with a yellow and green handle was found next to the body.

Mid Illovo police station is investigating a murder case. No arrests have been made at this stage and the deceased’s identity is unknown.

Police appeal to members of the community to assist in locating the next of kin and to assist in identifying the woman. Any information relating to the crime would be appreciated.
