10km race a massive drawcard for Rising Sun Chatsworth Freedom Marathon

It is going to be a day filled with fun times, jubilation and good health so be sure to make you and your family part of this massive marathon.

As the Rising Sun Chatsworth Freedom Marathon draws closer, the community is urged to lace up for the 10km race, which is set to be an exciting segment of the event which not only promotes fitness and healthy lifestyles, but also social cohesion and unity.

The countdown to the exciting event has officially begun and participants are reminded to diarise the Rising Sun Chatsworth Freedom Marathon which takes place on Sunday, 22 April at the Chatsworth Stadium from 5.30am.

The early morning start is ideal for participants to breathe in the fresh air and prepare themselves for an exhilarating day.

As always, the marathon comprises of the 52km race (a Comrades qualifier), the 21km race and not forgetting the 10km race, which organisers have dubbed a ‘massive drawcard’.

It is hoped that unlicensed runners, young and old alike, will participate in the 10km race and prove they can take control of their health and fitness. Those interested in participating in the 10km event will be delighted to know that a prize purse of R2,500 will be presented to the winner.

“The 10km race is such an exciting segment and we are looking forward to seeing residents come through in their numbers to register. As the general public will be attempting the 10km race, we have ensured that the route is both accommodating and pleasant. There is no better way to spend your Sunday morning,” said officials of the Rising Sun Chatsworth Athletic Club.

In addition, all race participants will be presented with special T-shirts. One lucky runner will also stand a chance to win a R10,000 furniture voucher, with compliments of Kitchen Studio.

The winner will be selected at a lucky draw. It is often said that being healthy or fit shouldn’t be a fad or trend, but rather a lifestyle and members of the Rising Sun Chatsworth Athletic Club abide by these words daily and are always looking for ways to encourage the community to change their mindset.

Judging from the success of last year’s marathon, it is evident that the 2018 event will definitely yield positive results again.
