USC artists to learn from colour master oil artist

The demo this month will be given by Amanda Leggat a well known artist

THE Upper South Coast Art Association holds its February meeting in the activities hall of Amanzimtoti library on Saturday, 17 March.

The meeting will begin at 1pm and end at about 4pm.

Refreshments will be supplied for a small fee.

The demo this month will be given by Amanda Leggat, a well-known artist formerly from Zimbabwe but now resident in South Africa. She is an artist who paints primarily with oil paint on canvas.

She is captivated by colour and expression as well as the play of light as it dances across the canvas. Go along and see the magic she produces. The afternoon meeting will be preceded by the morning drawing session which will begin at 9am and end at about noon. This session will be conducted by Ritha Fenske.

You will need to take along the following items:

  • All your pencils (such as B2 and softer), rubber, sharpener and so on.
  • Coloured pencils, water soluble if possible.
  • APRs 3cm wide, flat painting brush or similar size pastry brush.
  • Small container for water.
  • Paper towels or toilet roll.
  • Three A3 sheets of cartridge paper, a minimum of 120gsm.
  • Some printer paper for warming up.

Also, three references: (good, clear images).

  1. A rose,
  2. St Joseph lily,
  3. a hibiscus

Anyone who has Quink black ink is asked to bring that too.
