Amanzimtoti roadblock nets 23 drunk drivers

This will be a continuous operation in various locations in the Amanzimtoti area.

Twenty three drunk drivers were arrested during a multi-disciplinary roadblock conducted on Kingsway, by members of Amanzimtoti SAPS and Metro Police on Friday evening, 23 February.

The arrested drivers were all charged, granted bail and appeared in Amanzimtoti Magistrates Court on Monday, 26 February.

“This will be a continuous operation in various locations in the Amanzimtoti area,” said Lt Colonel Thulani Zwane of the SAPS KZN media centre. “We are taking a zero tolerance stance against all drunken drivers as we approach the Easter holidays. We urge those who will be participating in celebrations where alcohol is consumed, to make alternative transport arrangements. The message is clear – be responsible and do not drink and drive.”
