UPDATE: Two charged with Wentworth woman’s fuel station murder

The accused were remanded in custody until next Wednesday, 7 March

ANOTHER arrest was made in connection with the murder of 33-year-old Wentworth mother, Bianca Parsons on Saturday, 25 February.

The two accused, aged 33 and 26, appeared in Durban Magistrates’ Court on a charge of murder on Wednesday, 28 February.

They were remanded in custody until next Wednesday, 7 March for a formal bail hearing. It is unclear whether they were asked to plead in response to the charge of murder.

Police made the second arrest on 26 February and the second accused was found at his home with a pistol and two magazines with eight rounds of ammunition in his possession.

The gun has been sent for ballistic testing to ascertain if it was used in the murder.

Parsons was seated in her car with her three-year-old daughter in Tara Road while waiting for her husband who went into the petrol station shop, when she was shot by an unknown gunman. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her child was unharmed.

A case of murder was opened at Wentworth police station. Swift police action led to the arrest of two men and the recovery of the firearm suspected to be used in Parsons’ murder.

“Immediate police investigation which led to the arrest of the suspected murderers and the recovery of the firearm is commended. We will ensure we gather enough evidence and send a well-prepared docket to court for a successful prosecution,” said the KwaZulu-Natal acting provincial commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa.
