Shulton Park pensioner tussles with armed burglars

He almost got the better of them with the help of his brave dog, who managed to cling to the one suspect’s arm.

An Amanzimtoti pensioner bravely fought off armed thugs during a home invasion in Anna Scheepers Road on Friday, 23 February.

According to Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) committee member George Snodey, two men jumped over the wall and confronted the home owner with a firearm.

“He put up a fight and almost got the better of them with the help of his brave dog, who managed to cling to the one suspect’s arm,” said Snodey. “The resident managed to keep them away from his wife, who was around the corner, hanging up washing.”

The thieves stole their TV and cellphones, among other items, loaded them into the resident’s vehicle and fled. The elderly man sustained minor injuries.
