WATCH: CCPO retrieves stolen tablets from Doonside dune shack

With the assistance of Metro Police, the CCPO and Blue Security demolished the dwelling.

A crime syndicate was smashed by the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) after eight alleged stolen tablets were found in a squatter shack in the Doonside dunes on Tuesday, 20 February.

“In the morning we received information about stolen property in a tented home in the dunes on Doonside Beach,” said CCPO committee member, George Snodey. “A car guard at Winklespruit Beach was seen trying to sell one of the tablets at the Winkle taxi rank the previous night. We questioned him and he took us to where the guy that asked him to sell it apparently lives in the dunes.”

The CCPO found a bag containing eight tablets and various other items they suspected had been stolen from a tearoom. They also found two guys squatting and they, along with the presumed stolen property, were taken to Amanzimtoti detectives and handed over.

“The owner of the bag containing all the alleged stolen property is a pimp for one of the local prostitutes. We haven’t located him yet but it is simply a matter of time,” said Snodey.

With the assistance of Metro Police, the CCPO and Blue Security demolished the dwelling. To join the CCPO, call George on 083-655-4302 or the CCPO office on 031-903-7037.

All the tablets found during the raid.
