Laptop thief shut down by Amanzimtoti crime network

We have been searching for this suspect since November when he allegedly stole a laptop from a Rockview Road premises.

A known thief was pursued and apprehended by Metro Police and Amanzimtoti reaction officers on Tuesday, 20 February.

CCPO committee member, George Snodey said the man was spotted in Sherwood and Marion roads in Amanzimtoti at around noon but he fled as he was about to be questioned.

“After a long chase that lasted close to an hour and plenty of fence hopping, he eventually fled across the N2 highway into Valley Road, hotly pursued by the CCPO, Blue Security and ET Rapid Response, as well as Metro Police K9 officers.” The wanted man was eventually apprehended after running into CCPO officers in Valley Road.

“We have been searching for this suspect since November when he allegedly stole a laptop from a Rockview Road premises. He admitted he had stolen it and took us to Toti CBD where he had sold it to a shop owner.” The shop owner was forced to retrieved the laptop from Durban after being warned by the Metro Police officers to return it, and he handed it in at Toti SAPS.

The suspect was arrested on an outstanding case and detained at Toti SAPS.

The known suspect was apprehended in Valley Road after a lengthy chase on Tuesday, 20 February.
