Knife-wielding home invaders rattle Warner Beach family

I heard my son screaming and then they came into the kitchen, holding a knife to his neck.

A Warner Beach family was left traumatised after three knife-wielding thugs invaded their Kingsway Avenue home on Friday evening, 16 February.

The couple, who did not wish to be named, were in their kitchen and their eight-year-old son was on the couch, watching TV when the men stormed into their house through their sliding door at about 6.15pm.

“I heard my son screaming and then they came into the kitchen, holding a knife to his neck,” said the wife. “They held a knife to my husband’s neck and took them into a bedroom, while the third held a knife to my neck and took me around the house to look for items. He demanded to know if we had a gun and where our laptops and cellphones were.”

The men took the couple’s TV, gaming console, bank cards, hi-fi and money among other items, loaded them into the husband’s Ford Bantam bakkie and made their escape.

“One of the men was very aggressive while the other two were shaking,” said the wife. “They took everything. My son is devastated and distraught – he won’t even sleep in his own room. He is absolutely petrified.”

Nearby CCTV cameras captured the men being dropped off in a white VW Golf.
