Crime fighters swoop on botched Isipingo hijacking scene

It is alleged the man attempted to hijack the vehicle of a neighbour of an Alpha client.

A man was arrested in Isipingo Beach and a firearm recovered after a botched attempted hijacking on Saturday morning, 17 February.

Alpha Alarms communications officer, Krishnee Naidoo said one of their armed response officers recovered the firearm while Metro Police Dog Unit, Isipingo Beach CPF and another security company assisted in the arrest of an alleged attempted hijacker on Baracuda Drive.

“A client alerted our control room of the crime in progress and units were dispatched. A bystander informed our officer that the armed man had run into nearby bushes.”

Metro Police’s dog unit arrived and together with the other crimefighters, managed to apprehend the man. The firearm, however was missing. A search was conducted and the Alpha officer recovered the buried gun.

It is alleged the man attempted to hijack the vehicle of a neighbour of an Alpha client, who called in the crime and requested assistance.
