THE Umsizi Vervet Rescue Centre’s fundraiser held last Thursday, 8 February at the Bell and Anchor was deemed a great success.
A whopping R24,000 was raised and this amount will take the centre a step closer towards being able to buy a piece of land to build a permanent sanctuary.
The Umsizi team thanked all who contributed in their own way, great or small, towards raising the amount and making the evening the success it was.
A mammoth 125 people made a booking for the dinner, which drummed up R18,750. The balance was made through the sale of raffle tickets and donations which saw great prizes go to those who won.
Gratitude is owed to Joann Venter, Barbara Chochola, Xavier Knoesen, the Scottburgh vet and all others who arranged big table bookings, Michelle Harris from Seeff for allowing a lounge to be used as a photo booth, Robyn Mays for doing up the photo booth, the raffle and all advertising, to Rod James for organising the entertainment and Zane Lawrence for providing excellent music, all free of charge.

Thanks are owed to the amazing staff of Bell and Anchor for ‘working like machines’ the whole night through, to keep the masses happy. “It was an amazing night and an absolute success, I hope we can do it again sometime,” said Umsizi’s Tracy Rowles.
