Driver dies, four hurt as bakkie rolls in early morning M4 crash

The driver's extensive injuries proved fatal

A single vehicle crash proved fatal in the early hours of Saturday morning, 10 February, leaving the driver of a bakkie dead and four others injured on the M4 southbound before the old airport site.

The vehicle had crashed into the barriers before overturning several times.

Rescue Care’s paramedics arrived just after 2am to find a single vehicle had come to rest on its wheels after it had  rolled several times.

The driver’s extensive injuries proved fatal and he was declared deceased at the scene. Four others who sustained various injuries were stabilised and taken to a nearby hospital.

Events leading up to the collision are unknown but SAPS were on the scene and will investigate the cause of the fatal collision.
