A MERE six months after securing its first home, the Elders Voice KZN this week signed for its sixth home which will in no time be opened, functioning and filled with happy, comfortable senior citizens.

The NGO is making great strides in the short time its been operating.

The next home to house the senior citizens is situated in Linscott Road, Athlone Park. All homes function by means of shared living, where the initial deposit is covered by donations but from then on, the residents of the home pay their way.

The pensioner residents of many of the homes, which are all sited locally, have created home-made goods which are sold to raise funds and sustain the homes.

She explained that the NGO opened a home at 8 Lomond Lane on 1 January. The house at 55 Linscott Road will open on 1 February. “This means we now have six homes within the Amanzimtoti area, assisting 47 people,” she said.
