Tortoise brings festive surprise for Shulton Park family

Sneaky surprise visitor leaves Mtshalis with more questions than answers

A Shulton Park family have been left confounded at a festive season surprise that Santa inexplicably left in their garden on Thursday, 14 December.

Fidelia Mtshali’s two young daughters were left feeling apprehensive when they discovered a small tortoise in garden of their Marieta Prinsloo Road home.

Their home is situated above road level, and the Mtshalis could not explain how the tortoise, which measured about 25cm long, came to be in a small section of their garden which is walled off.

Unsure of what to do with it, Fidelia was calling wildlife rescue centres all of Friday morning. She was advised to make contact with the Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (Crow) as they were unsure of what to feed it.
