High-speed Amanzimtoti chase leads to car thieves’ arrest

Amanzimtoti SAPS members shared details about the car and it wasn’t long before the men were located in Athlone Park.

Three car thieves were arrested by Amanzimtoti SAPS after a chase through Athlone Park on Wednesday, 13 December.

The Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) received a call from its clients to say four men in a silver Fiesta tried to steal their car at about 11am.

The registration was distributed over the CCPO radio. Amanzimtoti SAPS members on the channel shared the information over the SAPS radio and it wasn’t long before the men were located in Athlone Park, where a chase ensued.

The suspects’ vehicle hit two other vehicles before crashing into concrete poles. SAPS members arrested three men, while one escaped. The car, which was hired, had false number plates fitted.
