Toti Primary claims first prize at inaugural interschool nipper champs

All nippers competing in Saturday's event did so representing their school, regardless of if they belong to a lifesaving club or not.

THE first Interschool South KZN Nipper Championships took place on Saturday, 2 December at Scottburgh Beach.

The day saw Warner Beach Preparatory, Amanzimtoti Primary and Scottburgh Primary have a great time in the surf, sun and sand.

Amanzimtoti Primary School swam, ran and dived its way to first place with Warners Prep and Scottburgh Primary following close behind. As nippers was only introduced into these three schools this August, the General Tyre-sponsored event was deemed a great success by all involved.

All nippers competing in Saturday’s event did so representing their school, regardless of if they belong to a lifesaving club or not.

Next year organisers hope to implement nippers in all coastal schools, as the benefits pupils participating will reap include fitness and beach safety, leaving many to question why it hasn’t happened sooner.
