Prolific painter continues his passion-driven journey

Vos will offer a stall at Our Lady, Star of the Sea Catholic Church's craft market this Saturday, 9 December where his art will be on sale.

INTERNATIONALLY-acclaimed Durban artist, marathon runner and Beatles fan Henk Vos is back on local grounds for a short time before continuing his passion-driven journey of linking patterns, signs and connections and sharing doing so.

Vos will offer a stall at Our Lady, Star of the Sea Catholic Church’s craft market this Saturday, 9 December where his art will be on sale.

Vos was born in Amsterdam but spent the majority of his life in Durban. He studied art in Johannesburg and has created numerous internationally recognised pieces since. Before he went to work for himself, the artist worked for display companies, commercial agencies, The Star Newspaper and publishing houses painting and drawing. Vos has gained an immense reputation as a painter of wildlife, equine and human-centered pieces.

Vos, who now lives in Holland, has been described as a sensitive and unassuming artist who has a deep and sincere desire to touch people’s souls. The detail and anatomical accuracy of his artwork has been compared to that of Leonardo da Vinci.

The artist rose to international prominence in New York where he was acclaimed by experts as ‘probably the most important wildlife painter of the century’.

At age 64, Vos decided to leave South Africa on a Magical Mystery Tour running various marathons around Europe and trailing the same path of the iconic band, The Beatles.

Henk has now returned to Amanzimtoti for only a short time before travelling back to Holland where he now lives, and can be met at the craft market this Saturday at Our Lady, Star of the Sea Catholic Church where he will have books and prints of his work on sale.
