Lifeguards lend a hand to transform hoot bridge

The bridge will now receive a coat of sapphire blue paint and in time, a majestical mural.

WINKLESPRUIT lifeguards showed their service to the town extends beyond keeping a watchful eye on the beach and surf when they got down and dirty to give the Warner Beach hoot bridge a needed clean on Tuesday, 28 November.

The bridge will now receive a coat of sapphire blue paint and in time, a majestical mural.

In preparation for the upcoming holiday season, Sapphire Coast Tourism’s project to ‘paint the town blue’ will see Amanzimtoti, and ideally the whole Sapphire Coast given a facelift.

Many bridges have already been cleaned and coated with a fresh sapphire blue, and artists have even come forward to paint beautiful murals on the freshly painted walls and bridges.

The lifeguards together with Clean Surf Project members took it upon themselves to spray and scrub down the hoot bridge. Nearby panelbeater, Auto Rust supplied a high pressure cleaner and wheelbarrow and SCT sponsored the paint, brushes, buckets and sugar soap.

The Sapphire Coast Tourism team again reminds any artists who are keen to paint murals to come forward. If anyone can assist with cleaning, painting or artwork in any way, call Romy Wentzel on 083-733-6468 or Cllr Andre Beetge on 082-718-8137.
