Outer South police cluster collars hijackers, recovers stolen cars

Brigadier MVP Mgobhozi received information about four criminals in Kwamakhutha.

Two hijackers were arrested and two guns seized when police recovered two hijacked vehicles in KwaMakhutha on Monday, 13 November.

eThekwini Outer South Cluster deputy commander, Brigadier MVP Mgobhozi received information about four criminals in Kwamakhutha and his cluster team proceeded to Kwamakhutha hostel.

On arrival, two suspects managed to get away but two were arrested. They searched the men and found two unlicensed 9mm firearms and recovered two hijacked vehicles which had been taken in Durban Central and Phoenix.

The men were arrested for possession of stolen property and unlicensed firearms. The recovered firearms will be sent to SAPS ballistics to ascertain if they were used in any other crimes.

“This is excellent work by Brigadier Mgobhozi and the eThekwini Outer South Cluster team. Their commitment to remove crime from our streets needs to be commended,” said eThekwini Outer South Cluster commander, Major-General TJG Ndlovu.

These arrests would possibly not have been possible if it was not for the information supplied by the community and the quick response by Brigadier Mgobhozi. Working together with the community, we can do so much more. Let us continue to remove unlicensed firearms and dangerous criminals from our streets.”
