Animal dinner fund donation season starts

Amanzimtoti SPCA is inundated with stray animals at this time of the year and they rely on donations to feed and house these animals.

With the festive season fast approaching, it’s that time of the year when the Toti public can help feed stray animals housed at Toti SPCA by supporting the annual Animal Christmas Dinner Fund.

“Guy Fawkes Day and the fireworks season is upon us, which is festive for some but not for our four-legged friends,” said fund co-ordinator, Marlene Prinsloo, who has kickstarted the fund with a donation of R200 in memory of Misty and Honey and all her beloved pets.

“The suffering of those who cannot speak for themselves is about to begin and Amanzimtoti SPCA is inundated with stray animals at this time of the year. It is an immense task and they rely on donations to feed and house these animals.”

People who wish to contribute to the fund can have a short message on behalf of a pet printed in the SUN. The fund’s contributions go towards food for the homeless, abandoned and destitute animals that are housed by the SPCA.

A record amount of R37,669 was raised last year thanks to the generosity of the local public and Toti SPCA hopes to match or surpass this. In 2015 over R29,000 was raised. In 2013 the fund collected R18,000, which was surpassed by 2014’s amount of R25,000. Hopefully this upward trend will continue.

Send donations either to Toti SPCA or c/o M Prinsloo, 601 Strandburg, PO Box 312, Amanzimtoti, 4125. Cheques must be made out to Toti SPCA.
