The kerbside recycling programme known as the orange recycling bag programme, has been temporarily closed due to damage to the recycling plant.
That is according to eThekwini Municipality’s Cleansing and Solid Waste Unit (DSW).
The DSW’s recycling partner, MPACT was severely damaged during the recent storms and cannot accept orange and clear recycling bags from contractors and collectors.
This may explain why concerned residents have noted the lack of pick-ups in recent weeks.
According to MPACT, they are not in a position to accept any orange bags until repairs are completed, which may take up to four weeks to effect.

Due to these challenges, DSW asks all residents keep their recyclables in their orange and clear bags in their homes or yards until further notice.
