Police net three stolen cars at Lovu chop shop

Three vehicles came back as having been stolen in Isipingo, Amanzimtoti and Pinetown

Three suspected stolen vehicles were recovered at a chop-shop in KwaMakhutha during a crime intelligence-driven operation conducted by National Intervention Unit members.

Members visited a house in the Lovu area to follow up on information about stolen vehicles on Monday, 23 October.

On their arrival, they saw three vehicles parked on the premises. The owner of the house fled the scene when he saw the police arriving. Three vehicles were searched and circulated and all of them came back as having been stolen in Isipingo, Amanzimtoti and Pinetown.

A number of log books for various motor vehicles were also found in the house, as well as identity books.

KZN acting provincial commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa commended the members for their outstanding work which led to the recovery of the vehicles. “We are expecting to make an arrest soon. Our police officers will leave no stone unturned to apprehend those who steal or hijack vehicles in the province.

Community members are warned not to buy any stolen vehicles and they must check the vehicles with the police if they want to buy them. Those found in possession of stolen vehicles will be arrested and charged accordingly,” he said.
