Vicky, who was based at ER24’s Highway branch, died during the early hours of Friday morning, 13 October of injuries he sustained when his ambulance rolled at Umgababa while responding to storm-related calls.

“Vicky was one of the most beautiful, lovable people,” said Kingsway High School medic, Chris Botha. “I knew him for many years and we worked together, even though we worked for different services. He was respectful and it didn’t matter what service you worked for, he was friendly and helpful. He is a true loss to the emergency services.”

On Sunday, 15 October fellow ER24 paramedics, paramedics from other services, fire fighters, as well as security and law enforcement officers joined in a moving motorcade tribute from Merebank to Reservoir Hills to pay respect to Vicky.
