More bodies recovered in Isipingo after storm

It is believed a man had been crossing a stream 3km upriver when he was swept away.

Police pulled the decomposing body of a man from the Umbogintwini River near KwaMakhutha on Tuesday‚ 17 October as the number of deaths from last week’s storm continues to rise.

The man’s torso was seen near a low-lying foot bridge by someone crossing the river.

It is believed he had been crossing a stream 3km upriver when he was swept away by the fast-moving water.

The body of a mother of two young daughters whose bodies were found last week, was also recovered on Friday, 13 October in Isipingo.

Another body was found on the corner of Thie Road and Gopalsingh Road on the grounds of a church premises on Friday, 13 October. The church’s efforts to clean up the flood debris assisted in locating the victim’s body.
