Amanzimtoti school’s women’s tea to boost fight against cancer

This is a fundraiser for a very worthy cause.

Kingsway High School and Khanya Hospice have joined hands in the fight against cancer.

On Saturday, 14 October Kingsway will host its third women’s tea at the school from 9am to 11.30am.

Tickets cost R100 per person, which includes light refreshments, lots of great conversation, inspirational speakers, free breast examinations by a trained nurse and stalls.

“Our school has been touched by this disease in a very real way,” said principal, Sandra du Toit. “We have staff members, as well as pupils who are fighting this disease, and we know our community faces these challenges daily.”

This is a community project and all proceeds go to the Pink Drive initiated by Amanzimtoti Rotary to be donated to Khanya Hospice which actively works in the Toti area.

“We feel strongly about creating awareness and a sense of community support within Amanzimtoti towards this dreaded disease,” said CEO of Khanya Hospice, Neil McDonald.

“Our aim is to have the whole town draped in pink by October. Just think how cool that would be. We urge local businesses, doctors rooms and oncology rooms, hospitals, schools, churches and community members to join hands with us and make a statement. Often we are asked how people can support the fight against cancer – this is it.”

The public can order pink material from Amanzimtoti Rotary president, Aneska Du Pont. Call her on 083-255-2588 or Khanya Hospice on 083-597-8985. The cost is R100 for four metres.
