Quilters create close-knit bond with Amanzimtoti charities

The community group handed over 11 quilts to 11 different Amanzimtoti charity groups. The receivers can now raffle off their quilts or use them practically if they so wish.

LOCAL quilters joined forces to create 11 works of art that were donated to various Amanzimtoti charities on Monday, 4 September.

The year-long project saw many local charities blessed with a means to raise funds within their organisations.

The women from Cottage Patch Community Quilters Guild worked tirelessly for the past year to create many beautiful quilts. After some 30 quilts were handed to Palm Tree Creche a few months ago, the Guild found itself with excess quilts.

The community group handed over 11 quilts to 11 different Amanzimtoti charity groups. The receivers can now raffle off their quilts or use them practically if they so wish.

The quilters love what they do so to create so many works of art for such great causes brought pure joy. They have and will continue to knit the works which will be donated to a selection of local charities.

The 11 charities which each received a quilt include Jabulani, Kingsburgh Child and Family Welfare, Toti Child and Family Welfare, Khanya Hospice, Mooihawens, Kingsburgh Lions Club, Amanzimtoti SPCA, Jona Vaughan, Poinsettia Park, Bobbi Bear and the Amanzimtoti library.

To find out more about the guild or to join, contact Sandy Elliott on 082-466-6480 or Janet Jackman on 072-610-5702.

Veronica Baker of Child and Family Welfare, Sandy Elliot of Kingsburgh Lions Club, Slie Mosia of Amanzimtoti Library, Fiona Anderson of Jona Vaughan and Paddy Whindus of Amanzimtoti SPCA show off the beautiful quilts being handed over to 11 charities of Amanzimtoti.
