Athlone Park Primary School held a tree planting ceremony on Monday, 4 September to showcase and highlight National Arbour Week.
Ted Holden gave an informative lecture to pupils at a special assembly about respecting the environment.
He told how trees contribute to the environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, climate amelioration, conserving water, preserving soil and supporting wildlife. He then handed out certificates to the children who had done the best tree drawings and written the best tree poetry.
Trees were then planted on the property while the whole school watched.
